Looking for Double Din DVD Player

Aight I have been thinking about installing an aftermarket double din dvd player but I dont really know what are some of the more popular models. Im not looking for anything too fancy but for security purposes I would really like one that would fold somehow to hide the screen and have like a blank plate on the opposite side that would show when not in use. Anyone have any recommendations?

Hmm ... as far as the specs you have given, the only thing I can think of is something that would be a full touchscreen, kinda like a carputer, but not as fancy. Other than that I cant really think of anything. I would recomend talkin to a car audio expert, as they have a knowledge of all the latest car stereo's. Best Buy is not going to be any help, they will just try to get you to buy the most expensive thing there, go to a real car audio place, like a Mega-watt, or sound advice. They could probably give you a few recomendations.

something simple would be a pioneer AVD-P4000. ($500) Doesnt flip like you were saying but is very simple to use. looks great too when using the actual dvd. and easy to install. if you want something a lil more advanced i would go with the D-3. ($699-$999) nicer looking and also has naviagation. either that or the AVH-P6000 ($999) is nice to. i'm most likely getting this one. 6 disk cd/dvd disk changer built in. looks alot nicer too. Dont remember the kenwood model number but we got a nice Kenwood double din for bout $599 at work. looks great. you can add navagation to this but it cost just as much as the radio. by the way i work at best buy and dont think we always just try to sell you the most expensive shit. but ik some other stores do.

Im not tryin to rag on anyone that works there, but thats just been my experience, everytime I go in with a specific list of things that I want in something, they try to sell me the most expensive piece of equipment. I just talk to people, or go to a specialty store, that way I know I have real life industry experts, Best Buy, sometimes I wonder if they have to be certified to work in a department. I'm curious though, if I was to try and get a radio, would you be able to get it for me at a discount, if so I may be looking into getting a radio for my car, and just abandon the whole carputer thing if the price is right.

I just bought a Kenwood DDX6019 about 2wks ago. I love it! It's a touch screen. It's a Double Din but doesn't fold out...it's stationary but the guys who installed it at the local audio store said they can take apart the face off the stock headunit and make a cover for the tv with that...so it'll look stock until I want to use it then detach the cover and wallah.

The unit was 600 but I had to get that piece that routs all the sounds of the car (the dings, etc) which was $125 and installation kit was $25 and the labor was $50 so with tax etc it was around 8. Not too shabby but kinda...for navi it's another $500 to add that...that'll be done in the future...far future prolly. But for the custom piece....he's workin on it and he's chargin around $75.
